Why move off a per-email provider

Flat monthly price

Hosted email APIs charge more as you grow. Your plan price stays the same whether you send 300,000 or 500,000.

Your own IP reputation

On shared IPs, other senders affect your inbox placement. A dedicated IP means your reputation is yours alone.

Deliverability managed

We plan your warm-up and watch bounces, complaints and blocklists every day, and pause problems before they hurt your reputation.

Ask Claude about your email

Connect Claude to your server's data and ask: "did the invoice to Jane arrive?" or "build me a report of last week's delivery by provider".

Is it right for you?

Good fit

  • You send 250,000 to 1,000,000 emails a month
  • Receipts, notifications, alerts and newsletters to people who opted in
  • Your Resend, SendGrid, Mailgun or Postmark bill keeps climbing
  • You want a reputation that other senders can't damage

Not a fit

  • You send under about 200,000 emails a month: a hosted API is cheaper and a shared pool delivers better
  • Cold outreach, purchased or scraped lists
  • You need a drag-and-drop newsletter builder today

How it works

  1. Check. We verify your business, website and domain, and look at your current volume and provider.
  2. Set up. Your server and IP are prepared, with DKIM keys and exact DNS records for your domain.
  3. Warm up. Your app sends through our API or SMTP. Traffic moves over gradually across 4–6 weeks while your old provider carries the rest.
  4. Watch. We monitor bounces, complaints, blocklists and DNS every day, and you can ask Claude about your email any time.

Switching from a specific provider?

Built on what we run ourselves

We moved our own production domains off Resend and Mailgun onto our own Postfix servers, with per-domain IPs, 2048-bit DKIM, authenticated submission and daily checks. OwnMailServer is that setup, run for you. Read how we moved our own domains, or the full Postfix on Ubuntu guide if you'd rather build it yourself.

Frequently asked questions

What is OwnMailServer?

A dedicated email sending service for businesses that send 250,000 to 1 million emails a month. Each customer gets their own mail server and IP address, a Resend-style API and SMTP, and a team that runs warm-up, monitoring and deliverability for them, at a flat monthly price. It's in early access; join the list to be contacted.

Why only 250,000 emails a month and up?

A dedicated IP builds its reputation from steady volume. Below a few hundred thousand emails a month, an IP of your own often does worse than a good shared pool, and hosted APIs are cheaper anyway. Sending less? Use a hosted API, or our Managed Server if you want your own server for control rather than cost.

How does the price compare with Resend and SendGrid?

As of October 2026, Resend Scale is $350 a month for 500,000 emails and SendGrid Pro is about $249 for 300,000. Our Scale plans are $149 for 250,000, $249 for 500,000 and $399 for 1,000,000 emails a month, each with dedicated IPs. Compare your own volume with the cost calculator.

How long until I can send my full volume?

A new IP needs warm-up: usually 4 to 6 weeks to reach a million emails a month, starting with your most engaged recipients. Keep your current provider during that time and move traffic over gradually; we plan the schedule and watch delivery. Read our IP warm-up guide.

Do I need to change my code?

Very little. The API follows the shape of Resend's POST /emails, so switching is mostly a new URL and key. Any app that can send over SMTP (port 587 with a login) works too.

What does early access mean?

The hosted Scale plans aren't open for self-service signup yet. Join the list and we'll contact you to check fit, verify your domain and plan your migration. You don't pay until your server is live. Our Server Setup and Managed Server services are available today.

Who can't use it?

We vet every business before setup: a real website, a domain you control and a clear opt-in source for your list. We don't accept cold outreach, purchased or scraped lists, or anything that breaks Gmail and Yahoo's bulk sender rules. That keeps every customer's reputation safe.
